Printer Room¶
Dada and Beuys are located in the printer room and print duplex, in color.
| Printer Name | Printer Type | Queue name | Location |

Connecting to a Printer¶
All printers are served through a central CUPS print server running on porygon, which bundles the drivers for every printer itself. This means you print via IPP without installing any vendor driver on your own machine — just add a “network printer” / “internet printing protocol printer” in your OS, and the server handles the rest.
Since the print server also broadcasts its queues via mDNS, most Linux and macOS desktops will discover the printers automatically. In the discovery list they show up as Alias_<Name>_porygon, e.g. “Alias_Mops_porygon” — select the one you need by name. If a printer doesn’t show up automatically, you can also browse and manage it through the print server’s web interface:
print
.ktas .ph .tum .de (only reachable from within the university network or via VPN)
Scanning¶
A scanner is available on porygon. Log into porygon and scan using either:
NAPS2 — launch it from the GNOME Activities menu, or run
naps2from a terminal.Simple Scan — also available from the GNOME Activities menu, a more minimal alternative.
